A classic Davidoff corona and one of the safest first Dominican cigars. Toasted grain and light oak open into cream and brown sugar, finishing with cedar, dried fruit and a touch of black pepper. Mike's Cigars rates it mild to medium.

La Flor Dominicana: Bold and Estate-Grown

9. La Flor Dominicana Double Ligero Maduro Chisel

Roughly double the usual ligero, the strongest leaf on the plant, gives this cigar its power: spice, wood and pepper with dark chocolate underneath. The same blend in the smaller Chiselito size was No. 21 in Cigar Aficionado's Top 25 of 2024 (92 points).

How to Choose a Dominican Cigar
- Start with strength. New to cigars? Choose mild to medium: the Davidoff Signature 2000, AVO Expressions or Ashton Aged Maduro. If you already enjoy a Partagás or Bolívar, go straight to the Double Ligero or Late Hour.
- Look at the wrapper. Lighter Connecticut and Ecuadorian wrappers tend to taste creamier. Dark maduro and broadleaf wrappers add sweetness, cocoa and coffee.
