Melanio Oliva founded the Oliva cigar brand in 1886 and developed the first tobacco plantation in the Vuelta Abajo area of Cuba. The brand has since become well-known for its premium tobacco and cigar blends. Gilberto, Melanio's grandson, found a new home in the fertile lands of Nicaragua following two revolutions and three generations, where he grew to become one of the largest producers of Cuban-seed tobacco. Using time-tested methods for curing, mixing, and rolling, the Oliva cigar line has become a well-recognized brand.
