Umbagog is a pristine wilderness lake on the border of Coos County, New Hampshire, and Oxford County, Maine. In early 2017, the Umbagog cigar series made its debut. The Bronzeback is reminiscent of the original Umbagog blend, using Nicaraguan tobacco for both the binder and filler. However, unlike the regular Umbagog blend with its dark Connecticut broadleaf wrapper, the Bronzeback features a Connecticut broadleaf wrapper known as "2LS," which refers to the leaves typically found between the 1/3 and 1/2 positions on the tobacco stem. While dark broadleaf wrappers are known for their classic sweet, earthy, and cocoa notes, the "2LS" tobacco leaves offer a slightly less sweet experience.
