The Quesada family, in the cigar industry for over a century, originally hailed from Spain and moved to Cuba as bakers. By the late 1800s, they entered the tobacco trade and relocated to the Dominican Republic in 1929 to explore diverse tobaccos while maintaining their Havana-based factory until 1974. They founded Manufactura de Tabacos, S.A. (MATASA) in Santiago, Dominican Republic, producing acclaimed cigars like the 40th Anniversary and Reserva Privada.
Today, the fifth Quesada generation leads the company with his daughters and niece. Employing over 300 staff, the factory upholds a tradition of high-quality cigar production. With over 15 million cigars manufactured annually, including those from other brands, the MATASA factory is renowned as an industry gold standard. The Quesada family thrives with over forty years of experience, producing some of the world's finest cigars.
